Britam Asset Managers has launched two special funds in Nairobi following regulatory approval to give local investors access to global equities and mixed asset portfolios.
The company announced the launch on 8 Oct 2026 after the Capital Markets Authority approved both funds in August.
The launch expands investment choices for Kenyan investors seeking long-term growth and diversification beyond local markets.
“These funds are the next step in widening the choices available to investors as their needs and ambitions evolve,” said Britam Asset Managers Chief Executive Officer Barack Obatsa.
The products are the Britam Enhanced Global Equities Special Fund and the Britam Multi Asset Special Fund.
Britam said both funds target investors seeking long-term growth through a broader range of local and international investment opportunities.
The global equities fund gives investors access to international companies across several industries rather than restricting their investments to the local market.
Britam said its areas of focus include technology and artificial intelligence, healthcare and life sciences, energy and the digital economy.
The multi-asset fund combines local and global investments within one portfolio.
Its investment mix includes equities, fixed income and commodities according to Britam.
The distinction gives investors a choice between a global equities-focused product and a portfolio that spreads investments across different asset classes.
Britam said the new products extend an offering previously built around accessible local investments.
Obatsa said the wider investment choices would be backed by the company’s research and risk management.
Britam Group Managing Director and CEO Tom Gitogo said Africans already participate in the global economy as consumers and businesses.
Gitogo said they should also have opportunities to own stakes in the companies driving that economy and participate in their growth.
The launch comes during expansion in Kenya’s collective investment scheme industry.
Assets reached Ksh948.7 billion in June according to CMA figures cited in the release.
That represented growth of 59.1 per cent from a year earlier.
Britam said it manages more than Ksh300 billion and ranks among Kenya’s five largest asset managers.
The company also said it leads the fixed income category after managing more than Ksh55 billion in assets as of July.
The announcement did not provide minimum investment amounts or fee details for either fund.
